Collection: sickly sweet

sickly sweet is a group exhibition exploring the complex dualities of childhood. While the subject can be very heavy, the show's aesthetic is rooted in cuteness and beauty. The works are made using materials that play with the alleged ephemeral nature of beauty and youth; bubblegum will fade from pink to a dirty peach, and ceramic will remain permanent likely for years to come. The tension of these materials together are parallel to the ever-changing nature of growth, recalling the different childhood experiences of each artist. sickly sweet evokes a wunderkammer – a room of curiosities or collection of relics. A zine accompanies the exhibition, made in collaboration by the artists of the show, meant to be perused while the viewer contemplates each piece of the show.
