Workshop Date: Saturday, November 16, 1:30-3:30pm
In this ceramic ornament workshop, artist Casey Lin will lead you through the basic techniques of hand building, including slab making, attaching, and pinching! You will be able to make 1-2 (or more!) ornaments and have them ready before the holidays. This workshop is great for folks who are interested in clay and want to learn how to make any hanging object, not just for the holidays!
All ages and levels welcome! Materials, tools, and refreshments are provided.
*PLEASE NOTE* Because this is a ceramics workshop, your pieces will need to dry and be glazed by Casey so you will have to leave your creations behind temporarily for this process. We will notify you to pick up your finished ornaments 2-3 weeks from the workshop date. This is typical of the ceramics process, and we promise it’ll be worth it!
Max Capacity: 8 students

* Should you require masking at this event, please let us know by leaving a note at checkout. We are happy to require masking, as well as provide masks, upon request.

Casey Lin (she/her) is a Brooklyn-based sculptor, Illustrator, and a teaching artist originally from Queens. Casey received her BFA in 2016 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is currently a 2026 MS Ed. candidate at Bank Street College of Education. Lin’s artwork is rooted in the play of materials and figuring out various processes that work well with their materiality. She enjoys sculpting with craft materials as well as ceramics, metals, and textiles. Her recent work explores womanhood and femininity through sculpture and installations, as well as incorporating her art education background in curating community workshops and exhibitions at local ceramics studios and community art spaces. Her larger ceramic sculptures explore the body and parasitic forms.
Lin’s work has been exhibited in Chicago, Indiana, Milwaukee, New York, Tennessee, Maine, and Wisconsin. You can find her small sculptures and wares for sale at local businesses including From Here To Sunday, Brooklyn Horticulture, and Yard Sale Cafe.
